Jordan Glendenning today secured his first Junior Open title winning the u15s in Blackpool.
Warrington Table Tennis Club's Jordan Glendenning hit top form at the Blackpool Junior Open this weekend, winning the under 15s against rival Ollie Hill, the thirteen year-old's first Junior Open title.
Jordan started the day in confident form, topping his qualification group with three straight 3-0 wins and only dropped one game during the quarters and semis to reach the final.
The final got off to a great start for Jordan, taking the first game 11-9. Ollie levelled the match taking the second game 11-7, but Jordan always looked like he had enough to get the job done and took the third and fourth games 11-8, 11-6 to secure his first Open Championship.
"2013-14 has been a strong season for Jordan. He has stepped up to first division table tennis in the Warrington League and the National Junior League has been getting stronger and stronger as the season has progressed. I'm delighted with Jordan's success today," explained Warrington Table Tennis Club head coach Sue Harper.
Jordan started playing table tennis aged nine and quickly established himself as one of the up-and-coming juniors in the region. Jordan trains at Warrington Table Tennis Club, plays on its first team in both the National Cadet League and the National Junior League, represents Warrington in the Lancashire and Cheshire League, plays for Culcheth in the Warrington & District League and competes in Junior Open tournaments around the country.
Jordan Glendenning, from Great Sankey in Warrington, will this April compete in trials along with several club teammates for a place representing the North West region at the English National Finals.
