Warrington Table Tennis Club's Daniel Clarke secured a 1* Junior Open tournament win in the under 13s at Burton Uxbridge on 14 November.
Daniel had to contend with strong players in both his group and the knockout stages yet secured a clean sweep of 3-0 victories in all three group matches and another in the quarter finals. In his semi-final Daniel dropped just one game, taking victory on a fifth match-point, winning 17-15 in a tense fourth game.
In the final, sensing his first tournament win of the season, a determined Daniel didn't allow any lapses in concentration and saw the match out relatively quickly, again in three games straight.

Daniel Clarke's coach, David Hulme, was impressed with a consistent performance and said: "Daniel has been training hard since the start of the season and has fully returned to form since breaking his ankle in the summer. Daniel's hard work has paid off, everything in his game came together today. In match after match opponents couldn't cope with Daniel's movement, pace and tricky spins."
Twelve year-old Daniel Clarke is presented with his tournament trophy at Burton Uxbridge.
At the start of the season, having climbed into the ETTA U13s top 30 rankings, Daniel Clarke came to the notice of leading table tennis brand DONIC, securing his first sponsorship deal. Daniel has made a strong start to the 2010/11 season reaching the semi-finals in several junior open tournaments and putting in consistent performances in the National Junior and National Cadet Leagues, as well as competing in two local leagues: in Warrington and in his home town Stockport. Daniel is coached by ETTA coach David Hulme and Warrington TTC head coach and former England international, Sue Harper.
