The Warrington Table Tennis Club Awards 2017/2018
Best Newcomer - Ben Keeley
Ben only started playing a few months ago and already he is doing shots that players can take years to accomplish. His enthusiasm and drive is amazing. He’s already played in his first InterLeague without fear competing with juniors who play in the cadets, juniors and leagues and in his debut performance still managed to put 2 wins under his belt and he’s only 9 years old. We look forward to watching his growth in table tennis and seeing him in the cadets next year .
Most Improved Player Of The Year - Sam Davies
Sam joined us just over 6 months ago and his development has been a pleasure to watch, his enthusiasm for the game and his desire to win has been second to none.He bounds into club with a huge smile and will take on anything. He has already played in the Warrington D Team and in 2 InterLeague tournaments where he has has shown such improvement, in just his 2nd tournament he came runner up in his group and we look forward to seeing his first win in the coming weeks.
Most Improved Player of The Year (Thursday Session) - Roxy Jackson
Roxy started with the club because her brothers joined and she demanded to play even though she could hardly see above the table. She’s the only player who gets away with bossing George around and loves to coach him at the InterLeague tournaments. Now that she can finally reach over the table, she’s really come on in recent months and fully deserves this award. We're looking forward to watch Roxy grow and start competing in the near future.
Team Of The Year - Warrington C Steve Remmer, Jake remmer, Franke McConville, Ian Mc Conville & Kevin Eden
One of our new awards and it was a really tough decision as to which team should win. This team though have been fantastic. They are a new team and from their very first performance have proved pretty formidable. Not only have they won their league they did so in impressive style coming 3rd, 4th and 5th in the player averages. They are a team playing in an adult league with 2 juniors in the team and are of course the C Team, Captained by Steve Remmer and the winners of Warrington Leage Div 2.
Captain Of The Year - Toby Hayden
The third of our new awards goes to Toby Hayden who was captain of the team that came a close second for Team Of The Year. He is the Captain of 2 teams and sets a great example to us all. He has had the toughest job as a captain. He has captained 2 players who don’t come to training in the National Junior League, winning Division 2 and in the Warrington D team, captains and looks after the juniors on a rotating basis, several of whom have never even played a match before. No easy undertaking at 15 years of age. He deserves our thanks as well as this award.
Players Player Of The Year - Jake Remmer
Wow, what a contest this has been for this award with 4 players in the running. This is the award where your club members vote for you and needless to say the person to win this award has to be a great team player, a popular and helpful club member, be a great sportsman as well as a competitive player. Congratulations to Jake Remmer who received the most votes therfore winning this prestigious award. He has already shown the attributes for players player as he was voted as a club ambassador last year and remains so for this year. Congratulations Jake!
Player Of The Year - Frankie McConville
Frankie is new to Warrington TTC this year but has been coached by George for several years. He is a fantastic young player with a great personality and great dedication to the sport. We we are delighted that he has now decided to make Warrington TTC his exclusive club. Frankie has enjoyed an outstanding year with us. At the last AGM he was voted as Club Ambassador, he qualified for the Junior Nationals, has won 2 InterLeague tournaments, is part of the Winning Team of The Year, was awarded the Warrington League Merit Cup and to top it all off is the Warrington Junior Champion. Congratulations Frankie!
Well done EVERYONE. We can't wait to see what the next season brings.
