The sport has received a major boost in Warrington after a grant of almost £10,000 helped pay for new equipment at William Beamont High School in Orford.
Warrington Table Tennis Club received the £9,961 cash injection for the community development project.
The project, which has seen eight new tables and associated facilities at the school, was launched with an exhibition of skills from former European champion John Hilton and former Scottish international Brain Kean.
The club was formed by former English international Sue Harper who said she was excited about the project.
She added: “This will enable us to develop table tennis in the Warrington area by forming links with schools to raise the awareness of the sport in the community and to provide a focal point for young people to access and participate in table tennis.”

And John Hilton was also impressed.
“This is a fantastic project and I am delighted to be here at the launch,” he said.
The club has already enjoyed success with several junior members representing the county.
The club runs weekly coaching sessions at the high school in Long Lane on Fridays between 7pm and 9pm and are keen for more children to join.
There is no need to worry about bats and balls - they will be provided.
