InterLeague 3 March Results

It was great to see our returning InterLeague players and to welcome several new faces to our events and once again to see players enjoying our table tennis tournament.

Massive thanks to Thornton’s Table Tennis for sponsoring the tournament and special thanks to Bill for setting up his stand with some fantastic merchandise. They also have a brilliant website for all your table tennis needs, www.thorntonstabletennis.co.uk.

Many congratulations to the winners, there really were some close results and hard fought battles.

Overall Champion – Garry Owen

It was great to see 3 new winners and some really close results. The Watkinson family in particular had a fabulous day with 2 group wins and the One Point Challenge. Fantastic!

In a competitive Group 1, Daniel Watkinson won Group 1 for the first time with some amazing table tennis. It’s great to see Daniel win the group after several attempts. The new grip must be working, he didn’t drop a set all day! Great performance Daniel, we look forward to seeing you defend your position in the next tournament.

It was great to welcome Dawid Kakol back and watch him give a superb performance to take Group 2, narrowly beating Vojtech Sanc in his first ever InterLeague, stepping in as a last minute reserve. The winner was decided by their game against each other with Dawid taking the win. Group 1 for Dawid next!

Kate Watkinson, newly promoted to Group 3 after winning Group 4 in January, stunned us all with an amazing performance, winning Group 3 on her first attempt. It was a tight group and came down to points with Kate narrowly beating Ivan Kouril into second place. Great performances from both players. Welcome back Ivan! Amazing result Kate! Kate also took the One Point Challenge prize.

In his first InterLeague win, the much deserved winner of Group 4 was Garry Owen. It was great to see Garry who is a great InterLeague supporter, take his first group trophy. Not only did he not drop a set, he didn’t lose a game which meant he also took the overall champion title and his second trophy of the day. Well done Garry.

Another new winner for Group 5 was a WTTC junior,young Ben Keeley, at just 10 years, the youngest performer of the day. Both Ben and Sam Davies, also of WTTC, hadn’t dropped a match all day so it came down to a thrilling show down between the two junior players, with Ben taking the title in a thrilling match, played in the true spirit of the game. Great performance from both, well done Ben on your first table tennis trophy. It won’t be the last.

There were some brilliant performances on the day with 4 players in contention for the Champion trophy. Garry Owen, Daniel Watkinson, Ben Keeley and Dawid Kakol didn’t drop a set but Garry reigned supreme, not dropping a single game. Brilliant!

Wigan Doubles Champions!

After beating George Lennon and Pawel Orzechowski in a 5 set thriller in round one, they played some superb table tennis beating Clive Strettle and Alan Cowley 3-1 in the final. What a partnership! Congratulations to Frankie and Gary, you did WTTC proud!!

Wigan League Champions

Another fantastic year for the Jets as they took the league in style, successfly defending their 2018 title. Captained by George Lennon and team Pawel Orzechowski, Gary Noonan and young Frankie McConville, they comfortably won the league with some great performances from all.

Juniors come runners up in the Halton 1 Star Tournament

What a great day for two of our juniors. Runners up in under 11's, 13's and 15's. Both boys were a credit to the club, playing superb table tennis in the true spirit of the game. We are really proud of you and look forward to seeing many more successes.

Ben Keeley Cheshire Schools Runner Up

In a thrilling day, 10 year old Ben played fabulously and took a much deserved second place. Ben is really producing some fantastic performances, it's hard to believe he's only been playing for months not years. What an exciting young talent Ben is for WTTC, we look forward to seeing much more of Ben in the coming weeks. Well done Ben. We are all really proud of you.

Bat & Chat Launched

Bat & Chat will be based at Culcheth Sports Club every Friday from 1 to 3pm.

George will be coaching adult beginners and developping experienced players in a friendly and social enviroment.

The aim of Bat & Chat is to enjoy table tennis whilst making new friends.

Bat & Chat is a relaxed enviroment taking time to enjoy the sports and enjoying a chat over a cup of tea or coffee.

Places are limited so book your place with George and come and join us!

InterLeague 20th January 2019 Results

Another great day of competitive table tennis at the InterLeague Tournament on Sunday. As we have come to expect, there were some really close and exciting matches.

It was great to see our returning InterLeague players and to welcome several new faces to our events and brilliant to see two of our club members, Phil and Paul, playing in their first tournament.

It was great to see 4 new winners and some really close results and young Joseph Dennison was certainly the player of the day winning not just his group but overall and the one point challenge!

In a competitive Group 1, Charles Musa, on his first InterLeague tournament fought off the competition to win his first InterLeague trophy. Great performance Charles and we look forward to seeing you defend your position in the tournaments to come.

Gary Noonan gave a superb performance to take Group 2, another new winner and also runner up in the overall results. Group 1 for Gary next! It was a WTTC 1, 2 and 3 as Jei Makino came runner up and frankie McConville in 3rd place.

Joseph Dennison was certainly on top form winning group 3 after coming runner up to his brother Adam in his last InterLeague tournament so he’ll now be joining Adam in group 2 for his next challenge.

Group 4 winner was the lovely Kate Watkisnon who after only her 2nd time in group 4 took the top spot and like Charles, Gary and Joseph, never dropped a match all day.

Another new winner for Group 5 was Harry Hobson who in just his 2nd attempt won the group after a thrilling decider match with Dylan Johnson who cam erunner up and a super performance from Phil Whittred who came 3rd in his first tournament.

In an exciting finish the overall winner came down to points as we had 4 players on the same matches and games won. Well done to the winner Joseph Denison, closely followed by Gary Noonan, Kate Watkinson and Charles Musa.

It was a great day of some really competitive table tennis played in the true spirit of the game.

Interleague 18th November Results

Many congratulations to the winners, there really were some close results and hard fought battles and a great result for Warrington TTC as we had 2 worthy winners with Jake and Jei who also came in 2nd and 3rd overall.

In a tight Group 1, Suhaib Abdullah fought off the competition to win his first InterLeague trophy. Great performance Suhaib and lovely to see such a staunch supporter of the InterLeague bring in a win. Michael Stewart was pipped at the post, coming runner up on his first time in Group 1. Brilliant.

Jei Makino, newly promoted to group 2, only did it again, winning Group 2 in style and 3rd in the overall results. Will it be Group 1 next for Jei? Looking forward to seeing his development this year as he goes from strength to strength. Frankie McConville, also first time in Group 2 came runner up, losing only to Jei. Two fantastic WTTC Juniors to watch this season.

Jake Remmer returned to InterLeague form, taking the top spot in Group 3 not dropping a game until his very last match of the day meaning he just missed out on the overall champion trophy and came in as runner up. Great performance from another of our exciting WTTC Juniors..
Garry Owen came runner up beating Neil Myatt to take 2nd place on games won in a great group.

Another new and much deserved winner is Peter Crichton, winner of Group 4 and the Overall Champion. What a performance! Great to see another of our regular players taking home not just one but 2 trophies on his first ever win.
More great results from WTTC as Andrzey Banas, in his first InterLeague tournament took the runner up place and Dylan Johnson had his best ever performance coming in 3rd.

This tournament was made special by several new players to the InterLeague on their debut tournament performance.
Everyone had a great time and all played some really great competitive table tennis in the true spirit of the game.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and thanks as always for the great feedback. It was a pleasure to see you all and to enjoy such a great day.

This was the last tournament for 2018 and we’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you for a fantastic year of tournaments and all your support. The next tournament is January 20th 2019. The first one of the year is always very busy so make sure you book your place as soon as possible as it’s already 25% booked.

What a great day of competitive table tennis at the InterLeague Tournament on Sunday. As we have come to expect, there were some really close and exciting matches.

It was great to see our returning InterLeague players and to welcome several new faces to our events.

It was great to see 3 new winners and some really close results.

Steve Dean returned after winning Group 2 in his first tournament last month only to then go and win Group 1. Who’s going to knock him off top spot? Will it be Billy Cheung who came runner-up in his first InterLeague?

In a highly competitive Group 2, Arash Khozoee, in a return to form, pipped Graham Cleary to the number 1 spot on points as both had dropped just one match.

Adam Dennison, the first of our new winners took Group 3 after an exciting battle with Mike Coulton and his younger brother Joseph Dennison who came 2nd and 3rd. Loved his excitement and attitude throughout the day. He never dropped a match and also won the overall champion trophy. Mike had a great day and so nearly won the trophy. Next time Mike!

Jei Makino, another of our juniors and new to InterLeague and Warrington Table Tennis Club, won Group 4 with style winning all his matches and a close contender for the overall trophy. Group 3 next for Jei. Congratulations also to the runner-up Sebi Kustan who had his best day yet at the tournament.

Steve Stoddart, a regular supporter of the InterLeague won Group 5 with a brilliant performance and one of 3 players not to drop a match all day coming runner-up overall. Promotion to Group 4 coming your way! Congratulations also to Sam Davies who fought hard all day to finish as runner-up in a very competitive group, his attitude throughout the day was brilliant and support of his WTTC second to none.

We were also really proud of our club juniors, Sam, Ben and Dylan. They competed against league playing adults all day and gave some superb performances.

Sam came 2nd in the group and 5 out of his 7 matches went to 5 sets, both Ben and Dylan had four 5 set matches and Ben won the group winner. What a day. Can't wait to see them in action again.

InterLeague 12th August Results

Another great day of competitive table tennis at the InterLeague Tournament yesterday, it’s fantastic to see it so busy and such a high standard of play.

Once again, it was great to see our regular returning players and also to be able to welcome a few new players to our events. .

How fantastic that we had new winners in each group and that 2 of the winners were also new to InterLeague Tournaments. Certainly keeps it exciting and more interesting for everyone!

Special mention to Sam Davies and Dylan Johnson from Warrington Table Tennis Club. It was a tough Group 5 as the level of the tournament was a really high standard so they were up against several players who would normally be in Group 4. Sam had a great day achieving 3rd place and Dylan posted his first ever win and a comfortable 3-0 win at that. Great development from both of you, keep it up.
