Warrington Table Tennis Club held its first junior championships last night. Forty five of the brightest young table tennis players in the town took part in the club's Primary, Cadet, Junior and Youth Championships.
The Cadet final was won by Jack Eaton, defeating the experienced Emma Halsall after a convincing set of wins in his earlier rounds - dropping just one game en route to the final.
The Primary section was won by Nicole Scott, a promising young player who at just nine years old has already made her county league debut for Cheshire. Nicole defeated eight year-old Alex Flint in her final.
The Junior section was won by Jonny Pine, overcoming league teammate Yubo Zhou Rasmussen in straight games in his final.
The Youth section was narrowly won by Daniel Clarke, who came back from 2-1 down to win in the fifth against David Eden.

Head Coach Sue Harper said: "all of the players can be very proud of their achievements this evening. The dedication they show week-in week-out, training several times a week and in setting their sights high, stands them out as the town's top young table tennis players."
The awards presentations were made by ETTA North West Regional Coach, Brian Kean and international umpire and secretary of the Lancashire and Cheshire League, Dave Goulden.
