Warrington runners-up in junior league

Warrington TTC's Junior A-team narrowly missed out on retaining its league championship crown, fininshing runners-up on the last day of the season at Halton.
Going into match-day 4 Warrington's Junior A-team was firmly in second place in the league - a considerable 7 points behind rivals Wirrial New Ferry, with little chance of regaining the title.
As the day progressed a series of convincing wins, 6-0 over Halton and 5-1 over Formby, increased hope for the team. But a 3-3 draw aginst a strong Wigan team left Warrington needing to take all six points in the last match of the day against the Wirral team if they were to regain the title - a task just beyond reach with Warrington winning the match 4-2 and conceding the title by just two points.
Warrington's head coach, Sue Harper, said: "David, Keir and Jordan did very well to claw back five points and almost pulled off the impossible. Wirral fully deserved the title this year, they have put in strong performances all season and while we beat them today their earlier three wins over us created too much of a gap to close."

Each of the team cited Jordan Glendenning's performances, playing up from the second team replacing an unavailable Daniel Clarke, which helped the team to narrow the gap to Wirral on the day. "Jordan demonstrated that he is ready to compete at the top today," added Sue Harper.
Jordan received Warrington Table Tennis Club's Outstanding Performance Award for his role on match-day 4: the second match day in a row that Jordan has received this award.
