Match-day three of the National Cadet League, on 9 January, saw Warrington edge ahead in the race for the title following a convincing win over their closest rivals, Halton. The team however, went down to an in-form Wirral NFGR team, its first loss to Wirral this season who won all five of their matches - closing the gap on second place and sending a strong signal to those ahead.
The league is now finely poised and set for a thrilling finale going in to match-day four on 13 March, with any one of the three top teams able to clinch the title.
Head Coach, Sue Harper, said: “Warrington is in top place but we must not take anything for granted. Wirral and Halton are likely to present their strongest teams for the final match-day and we’ll have to be at our best. It’s very close.”
Warrington’s division one team comprises fourteen year-old Alex Storey and twelve year-olds Daniel Clarke and David Eden: the same strong line up that Warrington has played throughout the season.
