Warrington's top young table tennis players at end-of-season performance awards.
Warrington Table Tennis Club held its end of season awards last night: several of the club's players picked up accolades for their performances during an exceptional season for the club.
"Warrington teams finished in the top three places in five of the six divisions in the junior and cadet leagues," noted club chairman Kevin Eden in a review of the 2012-13 season. He added that the club will field no fewer than nineteen teams in the Cadet, Junior, Junior British, County and District leagues next season, four more teams than the club fielded last season.
The club's end-of-season awards were presented by ETTA's Brian Kean. In a speech to players and parents, Brian spoke about how dedication in sport can help to build confidence and success in all walks of life. Brian pointed to how his own success in junior table tennis helped him first at school and then in the early years of his work: "Dedication in sport helps youngsters to stand out from the crowd as achievers," he explained.
The awards eveing saw table tennis action in the form of a junior doubles event and its youngest players competing in a mini tournament. Amy Hutchings and Lewis Brook beat Toby Williamson and Will Gregson in the doubles final and Konark Pathak beat Jack Clowes, 11-9 in the fifth, in the beginners singles final.
