Tricky start for newly promoted G team

Posted by Warrington TTC on 16 September 2011

The season got off to a difficult start for Warrington TTC's newly promoted G team when they were given a taste of what might lie in store for them in the first division this season.

Warrington Culcheth G's opening match was against Alford A, who finished 3rd in the league last season. Kevin Eden managed two wins and one loss and team-mates Danni Eden and Daniel Clarke went down in all three of their sets, but both at least managed to win one game to prevent a white-wash.

"The opening match was always going to be a tough one," said team captain Kevin Eden. "Alford finished last season 3rd in the league and their team has been strengthened further for this season. Despite the 26-8 scoreline both Danni and Daniel competed well, narrowly loosing out in several of their games. In the end Alford's considerable experience won though in this contest."

The G team's next match is away at Alford B on Tuesday.
