Michael Lennon wins Wigan Junior Championship, beating Paddy Holland 16-14 in the fifth game.
Fifteen year-old Michael Lennon last night claimed the Wigan Junior Championship in a thrilling five-game match against local rival and junior league teammate Paddy Holland, which ended 16-14 in the fifth: Michael's first Wigan Junior title.
It was easily the best final of the night with both lads producing their best form. Michael trains in both Wigan and Warrington and is one of the top junior players in the region.
Warrington head coach Sue Harper said: "Michael has had a strong season for his Wigan Jets and Junior League teams and also here in the Warrington league. He's on top of his game at the moment and is establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with. We're delighted for Michael. His success is no suprise."
Michael's father George completed a remarkable night for the Lennon family, winning the handicap singles final 2-0.
Warrington Table Tennis Club is currently recruiting new players who would like to learn the game over the Summer months and potentially join its teams for the 2015-16 season. Interested players, aged 7 up should register online for details of training sessions and club membership.
