Keir’s cadet tournament win came in a confident performance in the final, winning in three straight against Sam Walsh, and following on from an equally confident three straight semi-final. Keir found his toughest match in the quarter finals against Formby’s Dominic Greene; Keir came through 11-7 in the fifth reversing the outcome of the previous encounter between Keir and Dominic in the Junior League in January.
Later in the same day, an in-form Keir proceeded to knock out older junior entrants, including a strong 3-1 win against Tom Miller before defeating Jake Timpson, also by three games to one, in the junior’s final.
Warrington Table Tennis Club’s head coach, Sue Harper, commented: ”Keir continues to impress - he’s gained much experience in both league and tournament situations and is playing and training well. His confidence is high and I expect Keir will continue his strong form through to the end of the season.”
Keir North is thirteen years’ old and is one of the region’s top young table tennis players. He plays for Warrington’s juniors, currently second in the Halton National Junior League, and competes in junior open tournaments around the country. Keir is a student at Manchester Grammar and lives in Stockport and has being playing competitive table tennis for four years.
