Sunday 24 June, Warrington junior Alex Storey secured the Junior Open title in Burton-on-Trent.
Alex Storey, ranked 39 in the England juniors, took the Burton Uxbridge Junior Open title in style on Sunday, sending a strong signal that the Warrington player is the in-form junior in the region. The number one seed defeated the number two seed, Ryan Fellows, in a thrilling five-game final, having initially gone two games down before mounting an incredible come-back to take the match and the title in the fifth.
Alex got off to a strong start, easily coming through the group matches, winning each of his early encounters in three games straight. The in-form Alex went all the way to the quarter final before losing a single game, coming through relatively unscathed 3-1 in a match that threatened to upset, but was never really in doubt.
In his semi-final, Alex met the equally in-form Adam Jacobs, a far trickier prospect and Adam did indeed cause sufficient problems to bring out the best in Alex's game. A 3-2 victory for Alex set up the top-seed title encounter with Ryan Fellows.

Warrington TTC's head coach, Sue Harper, said: "Alex has developed power and maturity in his game and has proved again that he has the mental strength to deal with the pressure and the intensity of junior open tournaments. Opponents find Alex's combination of defence and power difficult to deal with. The standard of competition on Sunday was high and Alex needed to be at his best to secure this win, we're delighted for him."
