Daniel Clarke wins at Halton to become Cheshire Champion.
Warrington Table Tennis Club took another step forward on Saturday when one of its junior members, Daniel Clarke, won the Cheshire Closed under thirteens event at the Halton Stadium.
Daniel didn't have the day go all his own way, first losing narrowly in the semi final of the under 15s age band to Kin Chan, one of the region's most promising junior players. But the 'tables were turned', when Daniel deafeated the same player in the final of the under 13s later in the day, coming through convincingly in three games straight, 11-1, 11-2, 11-3, dominating the match to claim the Cheshire 2011 title.
Coach, David Hulme, said: "after losing in his first match against Kin, Daniel changed tactics, frequently changing the pace, noticeably slowing the ball down and demonstrated a much improved shot selection. This led to fewer unforced errors on Daniel's part and put Kin under tremendous pressure to constantly try to add pace to keep Daniel out. This was the deciding factor in the match today. I'm delighted with the result."
