Alex Flint in-form at junior open

One of Warrington’s youngest juniors, Alex Flint, found top form at the recent Blackpool Junior Open winning the under eleven’s plate: a considerable achievement for Alex aged just nine years’ old.

Alex’s win in the under eleven’s plate final came against Jamie Green from Manchester, winning the match 11-7 in the fifth. Alex had to come back from being 4-0 down at the start of the fifth game and kept a cool head to level at 7-7 before taking four points in quick succession to claim his first tournament plate.
The club’s Will Gregson’s also found form in Blackpool finishing runner up in the under thirteen’s plate.
Warrington Table Tennis Club’s head coach, Sue Harper, said: “Will and Alex are two of the most promising players in the region. At just nine years old they both already have several years’ experience and are showing signs of possessing the dedication that will be necessary to progress further in the sport.”
The Blackpool performances were part of a strong weekend for Warrington Table Tennis Club, with many of its juniors competing a tournaments around the country. In Blackpool along with Alex and Will were Keir North, Tom Reed, Toby Williamson, Jack Eaton and Lewis Brook. A further five Warrington players, Danni Eden, Nicole Scott, Rachael Scott, Daniel Clarke and David Eden, were taking part in the Derby Junior Open.
