Nine year-old Alex Flint: runner-up in Blackpool Junior Open Plate.
This weekend, one of Warrington Table Tennis Club's youngest players, Alex Flint, won the runner-up trophy in the under 11's Plate competition at the Blackpool Junior Open. Alex very nearly won the final but was just pipped at the post 12-10 in the fifth.
"To make a winning start at such a young age is a strong achievement and everyone at the club is delighted for Alex," said Warrington Table Tennis Club's Head Coach, Sue Harper.
"This was Alex's first tournament success. Securing those first wins, tasting early successes and bringing the first trophy home is something that all sports people remember. As Alex progresses in table tennis he will look back on this first trophy as an important milestone," added Sue.

Alex Flint started playing table tennis aged six and, this season, entered into his first Junior Open tournaments, competing against up-and-coming table tennis players from across the North West.
Alex comes from a family of table tennis players, following his father Peter and his uncle Howard into the sport, who also competed as juniors before going on to become well-known senior players in the region. Earlier this season Alex made his debut for Warrington in the National Cadet League.
